Shop my collection of Yosemite National Park photographs and buy art prints on metal, canvas, fine art papers, acrylic, and more. Yosemite National Park is one of the most popular travel destinations in California known for its stunning waterfalls, sheer granite cliffs, rivers, and giant sequoia trees.
Yosemite National Park is located in Tuolumne, Mariposa, and Madera counties in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in Northern California. The park covers 748,036 acres, first established in October of 1890 and falling into the control of the National Park Service when it was created in 1916. In 2016 the park had a record-setting 5 million visitors, one million more than the yearly average. Yosemite Valley is famous for its many waterfalls. Yosemite Falls at 2,425 feet is the highest waterfall in North America. Ribbon Falls, off the side of El Capitan, is the highest single verticle drop, at 1,612 feet. Bridalveil Falls is most commonly seen when entering the park through Tunnel View. Along with the waterfalls, Yosemite National Park's sheer granite cliffs, carved by glaciers are one of the parks top highlights. Plan ahead and you can climb up the side of Half Dome, one of the parks most iconic granite faces. Or visit El Capitan, a granite monolith that is 3,000-feet tall at the highest point. Backpack into the high Sierras or camp in Yosemite Valley and enjoy the majestic beauty that Yosemite National Park has to offer.
I was inspired to be a photographer by Ansel Adam's images of Yosemite when I was young. His powerful images showed my how photography can be used as an important tool to create change and protect our wild land. This was a major deciding factor in my career path so Yosemite holds a special place in my heart. Visiting last year during the early winter was magical. Everything was dusted with snow or frozen with icicles and made for some amazing photo adventures. Previously, I had only visited in the summer but all of the Ansel Adams prints my family had growing up were of winter scenes. I was finally able to create my own winter wonderland photographs of Yosemite National Park just like Ansel Adams had.
